IELTS Core is a free IELTS practice website. This page explains what we collect when you use it, why we need it and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short and plain.
What we collect
- Your account. Your name, username and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. You can also tell us your learning goal.
- Your practice. The answers you give in tests, your scores and estimated bands, how long each test took, and the essays and files you submit.
- Speaking and the AI Tutor. Your browser turns your spoken answers into text. We send that text, and the messages you write to the AI Tutor, to an AI service to get feedback, and we keep the text and the scores. Audio recordings stay on your device unless you choose to send one to your teacher.
- Sign-in details. A sign-in token kept in your browser (local storage and a cookie) so you stay signed in, and your theme setting. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Security logs. Your IP address is used briefly to stop repeated failed sign-in attempts.
Why we use it
To run your account, mark your tests, show your results and progress on your dashboard, give feedback on Speaking and in the AI Tutor, let a teacher you connect with see your work, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Who can see it
- You. Everything above is in your dashboard.
- Your teacher. Only if you accept a teacher's invitation: they can see your results and the work you submit to them.
- Services that help us run IELTS Core. Vercel (hosting), Supabase and Neon (databases), Google (Google sign-in and the Gemini AI model) and Groq (AI model). They process data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and practice history for as long as your account exists, so your progress stays with you. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and your saved attempts, essays and Speaking results.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account. Write to us on Telegram at @ieltscoreadmin from the account you want to manage, or include your username, and we will reply.
Younger learners
IELTS Core is meant for learners preparing for IELTS. If you are under 16, please use it with the permission of a parent or guardian.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we will also tell you on the website.
